Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Salary: $70,000 – $100,000 annually (based on experience)

Our client is a respected General Contractor operating across Northern Alberta, specializing in educational institutions, industrial warehouses, administrative buildings, RCMP projects and has been successful in managing impactful projects in the First Nations. As their Edmonton office continues to grow, they are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support project delivery across their project backlog consisting of a variety of contract types including Lump Sum, Design Build and Construction Management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a much experienced Project Coordinator or an early stage Project Manager to step into a broader project leadership role. You will work closely with the Senior Project Manager. The role offers meaningful career progression, hands‑on experience, and exposure to complex commercial and institutional builds.

What You'll Do
  • Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in coordinating all phases of construction projects from planning through to close‑out.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and procurement plans.
  • Manage project administration including documentation control, cost tracking, schedule updates, and change order processing.
  • Prepare and issue contracts, RFIs, submittals, and other required project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic records, drawings, logs, and reports.
  • Contribute to project planning activities including proposal packages, project execution plans, and client‑facing documentation.
  • Assess project risks or issues and help recommend action plans where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate meetings, project updates, and manufacturing lifecycle tasks.
  • Read and interpret RFP documents, blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Support client communication, prepare quotes, and ensure customer requirements are accurately captured and translated into project deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress using systems such as Procore (updating RFIs, drawings, subcontracts, documentation, etc.).
  • Assist with project close‑out activities including as‑built documents, lessons learned, completion reports, and warranty coordination.
What We're Looking For:
  • 1–5 years of experience in construction project coordination or a related role.
  • Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and RFP documentation.
  • Familiarity with project procedures related to procurement, budgeting, scheduling, and documentation control.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare memos, RFIs, letters, reports, and proposals.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and record‑keeping accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and industry tools such as Bluebeam, Revizto, and Procore.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project needs, multitask effectively, and support multiple project stakeholders.
  • Customer service‑oriented mindset with the ability to manage internal and external communications professionally.
  • Demonstrated fiscal awareness and ability to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
