Job description

BMW Toronto is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Parts Manager. This candidate will be responsible for directing the daily duties of a large parts department, acts as the Parts Manager in their absence and aids the Parts Manager in ensuring the Parts department achieves their goals and objectives.

Responsibilities Include
  • Maintain and oversee the inventory control system by ensuring counter staff accurately complete repair orders, wholesale invoices, and counter tickets.
  • Support wholesale operations by assisting with order accuracy, fulfillment, and delivery coordination.
  • Actively pursue and develop new wholesale business through relationship‑building with local repair facilities, body shops, and independent service centres.
  • Identify opportunities to grow wholesale sales by promoting OEM parts availability, competitive programs, and reliable service levels.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report to the Parts Manager when individual part numbers require addition, adjustment, or phase‑in to support retail, service, and wholesale demand.
  • Assist counterpersons in locating correct part numbers, super‑sessions, and pricing in the catalog; use these interactions as training opportunities.
  • Approve and audit all parts returns (retail, wholesale, and internal) to ensure compliance with dealership and manufacturer return policies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with wholesale customers by addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Track and maintain records of customer and interdepartmental complaints (including wholesale) to identify trends and prevent recurrence.
  • Formulate and execute operational improvement plans with the approval of the Parts Manager.
  • Assist the Parts Manager in maintaining performance records and supporting coaching or evaluation sessions for parts staff as directed.
  • Control excessive use of shop and office supplies by department employees.
  • Supervise housekeeping in the Parts Department to ensure a clean, organized, and professional environment for customers and staff.
  • Protect dealership tools and equipment from misuse and ensure proper maintenance; recommend changes or improvements to the Parts Manager.
  • Maintain records and reporting as directed by the Parts Manager.
  • Participate with management in resolving customer, wholesale, and interdepartmental concerns by identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
  • Direct and participate in maintaining an accurate perpetual inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, fire and accident prevention requirements, and inventory security procedures.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with customers, wholesale accounts, technicians, and dealership staff.
A qualified candidate for this position must have:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a parts department in an automotive dealership
  • Post‑secondary diploma/degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of parts inventory and business management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and drive results
  • Must be able to lift, move (+50 lbs)
  • Computer skills including Reynolds & Reynolds, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Valid G Class Driver licence with a clean drivers abstract
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends
