About the Role

The Agronomy Consultant is responsible for providing technical expertise to BCCAI to support the development, piloting, and commercialization of technologies and to position SFU as a leader in the field of Agritech. The role works as a key liaison at the nexus between clients and researchers, providing advice and guidance to develop proposals, products, and technology or service solutions to ensure the successful achievement of project deliverables. The consultant will also support the delivery of training and upskilling programs and initiatives co-created with BCCAI partners and services as contracted by industry and sector partners. The consultant maintains knowledge and expertise in current industry practices, products, technologies, research, and services to formulate solutions for agri-food producers that deliver desired outcomes.

The ideal candidate is an applied agronomy expert who excels at bridging research, industry, and on-farm practice. They bring strong scientific training, deep knowledge of crop and soil systems, and practical experience designing, evaluating, and interpreting agricultural trials. They communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences and build trusted relationships with producers, researchers, and industry partners. Highly organized and solutions-oriented, they navigate regulatory frameworks, manage multi-stakeholder projects, and deliver evidence-based recommendations that support innovation adoption. They demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to advancing sustainable, productive, and technology-enabled agriculture in B.C.
