Job summary

A local literacy organization in Saskatoon is seeking volunteers to work one-on-one and in small groups with adult learners to enhance their literacy skills. Volunteers will receive comprehensive training and support throughout the program. Key responsibilities include assessing participants’ skills, planning sessions, and collaborating with the Adult Literacy Coordinator. Ideal candidates are 18 or older, commit to a flexible schedule, and are comfortable with technology for virtual meetings.

Summary

Volunteers work with adult learners one‑on‑one and in small groups to enhance literacy skills. All training is provided to volunteers, as well as ongoing support from our Adult Literacy Coordinator throughout the program.

What you’ll be doing
  • Identify participants’ current skills and work together to enhance those skills by supporting them with tools, resources, and encouragement.
  • Meet one‑on‑one with learners either in‑person at a public library or over Zoom, at times convenient for both you and the learner.
  • Use comprehensive literacy training, templates, and materials to plan weekly sessions based on each learner’s Learning Plan.
  • Collaborate with the Adult Literacy Coordinator for ongoing support, feedback, and resources.

  • Age 18 or older.
