Job summary

A leading Canadian bank is looking for Quality Engineering or Automation Co-op students for an 8-12 month term. Ideal candidates will develop automated test plans, execute QA testing, and use SQL and VBA skills to improve processes. This co-op provides solid exposure in a collaborative environment, fostering personal and professional growth with great networking opportunities. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until January 17, 2026, at the RBC office in Toronto.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).

Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Quality Engineering or Automation Co‑op at RBC for 8‑12 months? By applying to this job posting, you will be considered for multiple roles available across RBC Technology & Operations.

Some exciting types of roles you’ll be considered for are:

  • Quality Engineer
  • Automation Analyst

What will you do?
  • Assist with the development of automated test plans & solutions to meet clients’ growing needs for automation and enhancing process controls & governance.
  • Create plans for, update, and execute QA testing.
  • Support programming testing tools for internal use.
  • Maintain and provide accurate testing status reports during testing phases.
  • Maintain documentation of test results according to defined tools.
  • Support upgrades to the testing environment.
  • Automate reporting processes by using a combination of tools such as Blue Prism, VBA, and SQL.
  • Apply data warehouse concepts and methodologies to various projects.
  • Confirm that projects adhere to development standards and guidelines.
What do you need to succeed?
Must‑have
  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post‑secondary institution with a focus on computer science, technology, or engineering.
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self‑driven and capable of working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge.
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong systematic troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Understanding of QA methods, testing approaches, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Experience in SQL and/or VBA.
  • Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies.
Nice‑to‑have
  • Automation expertise (Blue Prism, etc.) and experience using BI Tools including Tableau, Elastic.
  • Prior experience in data integration of disparate data sources.
  • Relational database concepts and design experience.
