What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Build, lead, and mentor a team of engineers to deliver exceptional developer experiences
Empower the team with business context and support their ownership of the product development lifecycle
Collaborate with Product and Design teams to create a vision for data practitioner workflows
Coach engineers in product thinking, quality, and system design, while building individualized growth plans
Address customer needs in partnership with the Customer Support team
What is Required (Qualifications)
Minimum of 2 years in people management with a product engineering team
Experience leading teams through all aspects of the product development lifecycle
Knowledge at the systems engineering level of database architecture, compute engines, or compilers
Proven success in hiring and retaining senior engineering talent
Degree in Computer Science or similar; expertise in C, C++, Rust, or Java
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience working asynchronously as part of a fully remote, distributed team
Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex engineering trade-offs to various stakeholders
Background in startup or scale-up environments, demonstrating agility in shifting roles
Pragmatic approach with experience in various programming languages and technologies
Familiarity with analytical database tooling, SQL, or query optimizers
