LRQA was the first firm to integrate anonymous worker surveys into the assessment process creating the industrys first integrated assessment. LRQA has developed EiQ to create predictive models to assess risks of unauthorized subcontracting human trafficking labor unrest and other key risk issues. LRQA has also developed the first KPI-based monthly monitoring program to show the links between business performance issues and social non-compliance. When a supplier needs more guidance our Capacity Building experts design holistic and custom improvement plans to create long-term solutions.

Job Overview at a Glance

LRQA is looking for an Assessor Team Lead Responsible Sourcing in Brazil for an excellent opportunity to work in a multinational organization that is growing consistently and rapidly. The Team Lead will initially focus on growing a network of trusted assessors (both full-time and contractors) and ensuring consistency and delivery. Then the team lead will also support growth in region by interacting and devising strategies for growth with the responsible sourcing leadership.

Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
  • Supervise and mentor audit staff providing training and performance feedback
  • Allocate resources and manage audit schedules in discussion with the scheduling team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Shadow full-time and contractor audit staff in line with global quality requirements during onboarding and at least annually
  • Build and maintain a relationship with high performing contractors
  • Support contractors and staff maintaining and / or getting necessary certifications (e.g. CSCA status)
  • Ensure audit staff meet key performance indicators as well as APSCA requirements
Continuous Improvement and growth
  • Support sales leadership on recommendations on pricing and other strategic initiatives for corporate and direct to factory sales
  • Liaise on the teams behalf to make suggestions for process improvements and support implementation of the changes
  • Answer key technical questions from internal and external stakeholders as they arise
Audit Planning & Execution
  • Conduct audits as needed
  • Book travel in accordance with assigned schedule
  • Conduct an opening meeting with management outlining scope and client expectations
  • Interview management to understand facility practices
  • Conduct a facility walkthrough to observe facility practices
  • Review documentation that demonstrates practices
  • Interview workers (ideally in native language or with the use of a translator) in a sensitive but impartial way to verify and explore practices
  • Triangulate data across data sources to come to an informed conclusion on practices Presenting results to facility management
  • Advise companies on ways to improve working conditions for workers
  • Write comprehensive reports in English (and local language CAPs) for each assessment in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide clients facility vendor and fellow staff necessary clarifications on the audit results or the report in a professional timely and accurate manner
  • Finally meet Key Performance Targets related to report turnaround time report quality and budget.
Qualifications
  • 4-year college degree in a major of Law HR Occupational Health and Safety or Environment / Advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in social compliance auditing
  • Minimum 200 social compliance audit days (verifiable)
  • CSCA Auditor Status
  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time
  • Strong business acumen

  • Excellent verbal and written English and Spanish
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Comfortable in various industries e.g. manufacturing food & beverage

  • Maintains a global perspective and is culturally sensitive and aware
  • Highest level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
  • Comfortable with confrontation with a diplomatic and easy demeanor
  • Ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment with persons of varying socio-economic status
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • SA8000 Auditor Certification RBA BSCI Certification or equivalent is a plus
