The Breeding team develops new and enhanced corn hybrids that meet the needs of farmers, markets and changing environmental conditions. By utilizing advanced scientific breeding techniques, they combine desirable traits to develop superior crops. Breeding is essential to Bayer’s mission, driving innovation that supports food security, sustainability and long‑term growth for the company, farmers and the broader community.

YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of a comprehensive technical strategy for product development. This includes overseeing the creation of corn inbred lines and hybrids, from initial yield trial testing through to commercial deployment. The strategy should align with product concepts and portfolio requirements, ensuring both short‑term and long‑term genetic advancements within the breeding pipelines.
  • Work collaboratively with partners in Field Testing & Seed Production, Product Design, Agronomic Services, and Crop Product Team to ensure the effective implementation of the technical strategy for new commercial product development and deployment.
  • Provide support for regional and global product development pipelines, particularly in tropical regions, and aid in the launch of new products across branded and licensing businesses, ensuring alignment with market needs.
  • Collaborate with global regions to spearhead innovation projects in Precision Breeding, focusing on leveraging digital transformation and new technologies to enhance genetic gain and product performance.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environment, Business Conduct, and Human Rights policies, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility at the site.
  • Facilitate the development and optimization of plant biology solutions and innovations for row crop breeding, aligning with Precision Breeding strategies to deliver added value to the business.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?
  • PhD in Plant Breeding or related field, or MS with 10 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced English.
  • Experience with corn is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross‑functional and cross‑cultural teams to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities of cross functional teams without direct reporting relationships.
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities; facilitates solutions.
  • Position in Sorriso – MT or Palmas – TO.
