Overview

Job Description:

The LATAM Strategic Sourcing Manager – Energy & MRO is responsible for the execution of the category strategies for Mexico, Brazil & Caribbean and Central America reporting directly to the Mars Global Services Facilities Services Commercial Director. This person will deploy a global/regional strategy where applicable as well as develop and drive cross segment specific strategies for the businesses as appropriate regarding the Pet Nutrition and Confectionery segments in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Additionally, this position is responsible to connect and align with local, regional and global key stakeholders involved in the S&OP process. This role is also responsible for optimizing investments in terms of cost, quality, risk and availability as per the Mars Commercial policy and its processes as well as within an ethics and Governance framework.

Qualifications / What are we looking for?
  • Very high level of business acumen and mindset – must have strong analytical skills, understand and anticipate consequences of macro-economic changes on business environment

  • 5 years of proven sourcing/procurement experience, supplier capability knowledge and E2E Supply chain knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement category strategies and a strategic path to execute it based on thorough understanding of issues and multiple internal and external perspectives, leveraging or developing best practices

  • Strong cultural agility and capacity to navigate efficiently through ambiguity, changes, multiple stakeholders and complex matrix organization

  • Highly effective interpersonal skills – excellent negotiator, strong communication and influencing skills to all organizational levels. Demonstrated ability to develop credible business relationships with senior executives internally or externally.

  • Ability to lead multi-cultural teams based in different locations and comfortable working within complex matrix organization

  • Results orientated – comfortable setting and delivering against bold, stretch targets

  • Excellent language skills – English essential, both verbal and in writing, other languages are plus (Spanish and Portuguese)

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in complex and/or ambiguous business environments. History of building strong client and supplier relationships

Key responsibilities
  • Develop deep category expertise that will deliver and continuously improves organization efficiencies, maximizes value creation and create competitive advantage opportunities

  • Manage the relationships internally with X-SEG SUPPLY, R&D, Quality to develop strategies that not only deliver savings but also drive innovation through excellence in category management

  • Builds commercial ownership for relationship development with strategic suppliers: leads reduction of supply base by 20-30%, negotiation of competitive terms and contracts, secures competitive advantage, and enables access to innovative and value creation solutions from suppliers’ capabilities ahead of competitors

  • Leads supplier performance and contract compliance – provides regular financial, service and quality forecasts and updates to appropriate functional executives

  • Responsible for compliance and enhancement of proper procedures, policies, systems and controls, manages approvals and governance

  • Responsible to develop and institutionalize an enterprise wide annual sourcing plan (ASP) for Mexico, Brasil & Argentina across Energy & MROs such as Electricity, Gas, MRO and spare parts
