Global Immigration & Compliance Specialist
This role is critical in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and positive relocation of our global talent by using Mandarin. The Specialist will manage the end‑to‑end immigration process, focusing on complex and high‑volume operations while driving process efficiency and maintaining strict regulatory adherence.
Responsibilities
- Visa & Immigration Operations
- Manage complex and high‑volume visa/work permit applications (new, renewals, dependents) for assignees, business travelers, and local hires.
- Track progress, resolve issues, and maintain accurate, secure records of all documentation and communications within the Global Mobility Platform.
- Partner with vendors and government agencies to expedite processing in priority regions (e.g., China, Middle East, Brazil), requiring professional fluency in Mandarin for effective local communication in China‑related matters.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Proactively monitor regulatory changes (e.g., updated work permit policies, Visa rules) and implement company‑wide compliance protocols and updates.
- Mitigate risks related to overstays, document expiry, or status violations.
- Prepare actionable compliance and risk mitigation reports for management review and internal auditing purposes.
- Employee Experience & Support
- Act as a central point of contact for employees regarding visa and immigration inquiries.
- Provide expert, compliant guidance and empathetic support throughout the relocation process, ensuring positive employee experiences.
- Develop comprehensive FAQs, onboarding kits, and digital guides for common immigration scenarios.
- Process Optimization & Technology
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to automate renewal reminders, document collection, and robust reporting dashboards.
- Digitize workflows using mobility platforms, propose efficiency improvements that enhance scalability.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a subject matter expert advising HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and Talent Acquisition teams on strategic talent mobility and immigration requirements for hiring and transfers.
- Support Tax, Payroll, and Relocation teams to ensure complete compliance and alignment across all mobility functions.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience managing global corporate immigration processes.
- Strong knowledge of global immigration laws and regulations, with specific experience in high‑volume regions like APAC (China) and EMEA.
- Mandarin Proficiency: Must be professionally fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin Chinese to effectively interact with local Chinese vendors, government agencies, and assignees in priority regions.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.
