HVAC Technician

Reporting To: HVAC Supervisor / Facilities Manager / Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Technician to perform a wide range of duties related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The successful candidate will ensure optimal functioning, energy efficiency, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards for various commercial, residential, or industrial facilities within the UAE. This role requires strong technical expertise, a meticulous approach, and a commitment to providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation & Commissioning:
• Install, connect, and commission various types of HVAC systems, including split units, ducted splits, package units, chillers, VRV/VRF systems, AHUs, FCUs, and ventilation systems.
• Lay out and connect refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and drainage systems according to blueprints and schematics.
• Perform initial testing and adjustments to ensure systems operate efficiently and within specifications.
• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including cleaning coils, filters, and ducts; checking refrigerant levels; lubricating moving parts; and inspecting electrical connections.
• Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on faulty HVAC systems and components (e.g., compressors, motors, thermostats, valves, sensors).
• Replace defective parts and ensure systems are restored to full functionality.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions in HVAC systems using testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges, manifold sets).
• Identify root causes of issues such as refrigerant leaks, electrical faults, airflow problems, or control system failures.
• Refrigerant Management:
• Handle, recover, reclaim, and dispose of refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and best practices.
• Ensure proper charging and evacuation of refrigerant lines.
• System Optimization & Efficiency:
• Monitor HVAC system performance and recommend adjustments or upgrades to improve energy efficiency and air quality.
• Ensure systems are operating at optimal capacity for the extreme climate conditions in the UAE.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and installation activities, including work orders, service reports, and inventory of parts used.
• Report critical issues, potential hazards, and completed tasks to the supervisor.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and local regulations (e.g., Civil Defense, relevant municipal building codes).
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed during maintenance.
• Customer Interaction:
• Interact professionally with clients or facility occupants, explaining issues and solutions clearly and courteously (if applicable for the role).
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a vocational training program or diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Air Conditioning Technology.
• Certifications: Relevant HVAC certifications or licenses recognized within the UAE are highly preferred (e.g., refrigerant handling certification).
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as an HVAC Technician, preferably within the commercial, residential, or industrial sectors in the UAE.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, and electrical diagrams.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various HVAC components.
• Familiarity with different types of HVAC controls and building management systems (BMS) is a plus.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces, often in hot and humid conditions.
  
  

Working Conditions

• Primarily on-site at various client locations or facility sites across the UAE.
• Work involves exposure to various weather conditions (including extreme heat), noise, dust, and potential hazards associated with electrical and mechanical systems.
• May require working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.
• Regular working hours: 12-hour shifts (including a 1-hour break) 6 days a week.
• May require occasional overtime, weekend work, or on-call duties for emergency repairs.
• Requires lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment and tools.
