Abu DhabiRole Overview:The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of an EPC oil & gas project. This includes coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring technical compliance with client specifications, managing interfaces with procurement and construction, and ensuring timely delivery of all engineering deliverables within budget and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Project Planning & Engineering Coordination- Develop the Engineering Execution Plan (EEP) and ensure alignment with the overall Project Execution Plan.
- Define engineering scope, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with discipline leads (Process, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation) for timely delivery of engineering documents.
- Establish design review and approval cycles with internal and client teams.
- Ensure engineering progress is tracked through discipline-wise progress measurement systems.
2. Client and Stakeholder Interface- Serve as the primary technical liaison with the client and engineering consultant(s).
- Attend and lead technical clarification meetings, HAZOPs, model reviews, and interface discussions.
- Ensure all client comments are incorporated, and technical approvals are obtained per the schedule.
3. Technical Compliance & Quality- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with client standards, international codes (API, ASME, IEC, ISO), and project specifications.
- Oversee the review of vendor drawings, datasheets, and fabrication documents.
- Manage technical deviations, engineering queries (TQ), and interface control documentation.
- Coordinate internal and external Design Reviews, HAZOP, SIL, 3D Model Reviews, and Value Engineering workshops.
4. Interface Management- Coordinate interfaces between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Manage key interfaces with vendors, subcontractors, and third-party consultants.
- Ensure that long-lead item requirements are aligned with engineering inputs and procurement timelines.
5. Procurement Support- Support procurement by providing Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and vendor document reviews.
- Assist in vendor prequalification, inspection, and FAT attendance as needed.
6. Risk Management- Identify technical and engineering risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Monitor change requests and variation orders arising from engineering impacts.
- Control scope creep by validating changes through the Change Management Process.
7. Team Leadership and Development- Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and ensure efficient collaboration among all departments.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a performance-driven culture.
- Allocate tasks, review outputs, and ensure accountability across disciplines.
8. Progress Monitoring & Reporting- Monitor and report on engineering progress using S-curves, KPIs, and deliverable tracking logs.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly engineering progress reports to the client and internal stakeholders.
- Highlight bottlenecks, resource constraints, and critical dependencies.
9. Support to Construction and Commissioning- Provide ongoing engineering support to site/construction teams (RFIs, redlines, as-built drawings).
- Ensure timely closure of engineering deliverables required for pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Participate in system walk-downs and final documentation handover.
10. Documentation and Handover- Ensure the compilation and submission of final design dossiers, vendor documents, and as-built records.
- Oversee the preparation of Mechanical Completion Packages and Final Engineering Handover.
Required Qualifications & Skills:- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / chemical / electrical / civil engineering.
- 10–15 years of experience in EPC projects, preferably in oil & gas (onshore/offshore).
- Strong knowledge of client standards, AGES specs, and major industry codes.
- Proficient in project engineering tools like AutoCAD, Navisworks, SmartPlant, Primavera/MS Project.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
