Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Design Engineer (Senior) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing solar energy systems, ensuring their efficiency and performance. You will work closely with CTO, Head of Projects, clients, and other engineers to create optimized solar solutions for our projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of Diesel Solar Hybrid system's design deliverables such as SSO, SLD, WD, and Equipment layout using AutoCAD.
- Hybrid system sizing and optimization using HOMER / Enlite Sim.
- Solar PV Yield estimation using PVsyst.
- Preparation of comms architecture using Visio / drawio or equivalent.
- Preparation of Bill of Materials for Hybrid power projects
- Preparation of Feasibility study reports for optimum business cases
- Preparation of techno-commercial proposals.
- Data analysis of the Power analyzer data for the existing and new projects.
- Assist in preparation of presentation material and presentations to customers.
- Attending both existing and new project sites as part of the system design process.
- Standardization of design deliverables
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in solar energy system design or related fields.
- Hands-on expertise with HOMER Pro, PVsyst, AutoCAD, and hybrid controllers
- Strong grounding in genset sizing, load profiling, BESS integration, and grid synchronization
- Proven field experience – commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing hybrid systems in remote / off-grid environments
- Deep understanding of LV / MV electrical design, SLDs, protection, and SCADA / EMS systems
- Up-to-date with industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE 1547) and compliance with regional grid codes (e.g., DEWA, TRANSCO)
- System-level thinker with practical design sense – knows when to trade-off solar % vs. uptime or capex
- Clear communicator – bridges the gap between engineers, clients, and commercial teams
- Resilient and solutions-driven – thrives under pressure and adapts designs to real-world constraints
- Commercial awareness – understands the impact of design choices on LCOE, fuel offset, and PPA economics
