As a Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design process throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with clients, design consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met in line with client requirements and expectations.
You will assist the Programme Director/Design Director or Senior Project Manager in ensuring that our scope of works is delivered to AtkinsRalis and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the following areas and duties in your role: (omit duties as required per project)
- Ensure AtkinsRalis processes, forms, and deliverables are followed, and when required, client processes and forms as applicable.
- Assist in developing the scope of services for all required Lead Design Consultants (LDC).
- Manage and assist the client with the procurement of Design Consultants.
- Develop and implement the Design Management Plan (DMP).
- Develop a design responsibility matrix to clarify roles and responsibilities of the Client, PMC, Design Consultants, and other Stakeholders.
- Assist in developing the Project Quality Plan.
- Manage the LDC: ensure quality deliverables are submitted on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
- Oversee and manage the activities of the Design Consultants throughout the project cycle, including planning, organizing, and directing activities. Serve as the Management Lead for the Project Design (LDC), conducting technical reviews, ensuring quality, implementing policies and procedures, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication and act as the sole point of contact between the Client and the selected LDC team.
- Manage the Design Process, including weekly progress and design workshops, stage gate submissions, presentations, and approval processes.
- Review consultant deliverables, reports, drawings, etc., to ensure compliance with the project brief and client requirements.
- Assist with stakeholder invitations, agendas, minutes of meetings, and presentations during the project cycle.
- Coordinate with document controllers to keep project information up to date in the PMC SharePoint.
- Assist in change management, working with the Cost and Commercial Teams, to implement change control processes and review and recommend changes for client approval.
- Support value management during the design stages in collaboration with the client.
- Identify and manage risks that could impact schedule, budget, client requirements, quality, constructability, and compliance.
- Monitor and manage the design schedule in coordination with Project Controls and LDC.
- Manage all LDC activities in accordance with the project BIM requirements, with support from the project BIM manager.
- Oversee the implementation of sustainability requirements, ensuring compliance with the project brief and client expectations, supported by LEED expertise.
- Assist in stakeholder management by developing statutory approval workflows aligned with client and authority requirements.
- Oversee the preparation of technical documentation required for construction tender packages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 20 years of experience as a design manager.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture.
- LEED accreditation is beneficial.
- Previous experience working in the region, preferably in Saudi Arabia.
- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with clients effectively.
