The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking qualified candidates for a position of a research associate to work on a research project related to sustainable construction materials. The research associate should be knowledgeable of cement-free geopolymer concrete, pervious concrete, different concrete testing, microstructure characterization, and the use of industrial solid waste materials in the production of concrete. The selected candidate will be responsible of conducting literature survey, design necessary experimental work which includes concrete mix design, preparation of testing specimens, casting, testing and data collection, data analysis, contribute to the writing of research papers, and participate in the final report of the research findings. Familiarity with modern/advanced experimental equipment is needed. Also, the selected candidate will assist in training and supervising undergraduate students.
Applicant should have at least M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering. Applicant should have experience in concrete mix design, 3D concrete printing, laboratory work (e.g. casting, testing, fixing strain gaugesâŚetc.), data collection and data analysis. Applicant should have intent to pursue PhD in Civil Engineering at UAEU, as applicable.
A Ph.D. in the field is considered an asset. Applicant should demonstrate interest in carrying out research and working under tight deadlines.
