Qualifications

The Lead HSE Engineer directs the development and implementation of comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations. They lead risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations while providing technical guidance to project teams across multiple sites. This role is pivotal in promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring effective control measures are in place, and driving zero-incident performance in high-risk industrial environments. Beyond oversight, the Lead HSE Engineer designs and delivers targeted training programs, monitors safety performance metrics, and liaises with regulatory bodies and third-party auditors. They collaborate with engineering, operations, and construction teams to integrate safety into every stage of project execution. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential for influencing safe behaviors, identifying emerging risks, and ensuring continuous improvement in HSE performance.

  • 5-7 years of progressive HSE experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Recognized HSE certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA 30/40-hour, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
  • Track record of developing and implementing HSE management systems and training programs
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in challenging environments such as offshore platforms, construction sites, and turnaround projects
