The Role
The Health Economist Consultant will drive the economic evaluation and strategic analysis of healthcare digital technology platforms, ensuring cost-effective, high-impact solutions that align with Abu Dhabi's healthcare goals. This role focuses on assessing the economic viability of healthcare initiatives, optimizing resource allocation, and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making. The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure platforms deliver measurable value to healthcare providers, payers, and communities.
Key responsibilities
- Economic analysis: Conduct cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and budget impact analyses for healthcare platforms, focusing on claims processing, interoperability, and digital health solutions.
- Value proposition development: Articulate the economic and clinical value of healthcare digital platforms to stakeholders, including healthcare providers and government entities.
- Data-driven insights: Leverage data from platforms (e.g., using Azure Data Factory, Power BI) to model healthcare costs, outcomes, and resource utilization.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Work with technical teams, sales, and leadership to align economic analyses with business objectives and client needs.
- Healthcare policy alignment: Ensure solutions comply with regional healthcare policies and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, UAE health standards), optimizing for cost efficiency and impact.
- Market research: Analyze healthcare market trends and payer requirements to inform platform development and adoption strategies.
- Reporting and recommendations: Develop reports and presentations to communicate economic findings and strategic recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Partnership support: Collaborate with technology partners to integrate economic models into solutions, enhancing platform value propositions.
Required skills and experience
- Experience: 8+ years in health economics, healthcare consulting, or related fields, with 3+ years in healthcare technology or payer environments.
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Databricks).
- Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7) and clinical terminologies (SNOMED, CPT, LOINC).
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory) for data analysis.
- Analytical skills: Expertise in economic modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis, and budget impact assessment in healthcare.
- Communication: Strong ability to present complex economic data to non-technical stakeholders, including healthcare providers and policymakers.
- Compliance awareness: Knowledge of healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and regional health policies.
- Certifications (preferred): Health economics, healthcare management, or data analytics certifications (e.g., Certified Health Economist, Health Technology Assessment).
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with healthcare platforms like IRIS for Health or Rhapsody.
- Background in analyzing claims processing or payer workflows in healthcare.
- Familiarity with regional healthcare systems in the UAE or Middle East.
- Ability to speak a European language.
- Currently located in UAE or willingness to relocate to the United Arab Emirates.
