Job Description
Participation in integrated preventive-curative medical care programs. Performs the professional duties of an ophthalmologist.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets Joint Commission standards.
- Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of difficult and special cases.
- Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that Joint Commission standards are met.
- Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
- Participates in weekly rounds and peer reviews.
- Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs, integrating the curative and preventive aspects of total patient care.
- Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as they relate to Ophthalmology.
- Participates in QA programs as requested by the Medical Administrator.
- Orients new staff when requested to do so.
- Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.
- Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
- Participates on committees as requested by the Medical Administrator.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements.
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved medical school plus internship.
- Three years residency in Ophthalmology culminating in procuring a Post-Graduate Master’s degree and/or equivalent Fellowships approved by HAAD.
- Three or more year’s exclusive practice of ophthalmology since certification.
- Must have HAAD License to practice.
- English is required to prepare documentation and it is used as the common language to communicate with different nationalities. Basic knowledge of medical Arabic desirable.
