A leading educational institution in the UAE is seeking a full-time faculty member for its Institute of Public Health. The role emphasizes teaching, research, and community engagement initiatives in public health, epidemiology, and health promotion. The Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, is seeking a full-time faculty member to contribute to its academic, research, and community engagement initiatives. The role focuses on public health, epidemiology, disease prevention and management, infectious disease control, injury prevention and safety promotion, surveillance, immunizations, emergency preparedness, health promotion and policy, and occupation and environmental health. We are looking for a candidate with strong training, experience, and a proven track record in addressing public health challenges at local, national, and global levels.
The applicant must hold a medical degree and should have a specialty certification (Public Health consultant/specialist) by the Arab Board, ACOEM (US), FPH (UK), or equivalent medical board from Europe, Australasia, or South Africa. Applicants should have public health practice, academic and research experience, and overall academic experience with teaching and impactful research productivity.
Applicants should have a track record (at least three years) in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including designing curricula, overseeing courses, and supervising student projects. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, including the MPH and PhD programs as well as professional training. The IPH has a thriving graduate teaching program and currently has more than 30 PhD students and 40 MPH students. Furthermore, the candidate should be accomplished in conducting and supervising research projects. It is expected that (s)he will conduct and collaborate on public health research projects, secure funding, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals. A key requirement for the successful candidate will be their ability to serve as the principal investigator in research projects relevant to the health of the communities in the UAE. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in the College of Medicine and other UAEU colleges in addition to local and regional institutions. Particular skills in developing strong links and collaborations with other educational establishments, health authorities, government agencies, and other institutions in the UAE and the wider region will be considered a significant advantage. Experience in international collaboration is preferred.
