A leading logistics company in Cape Town seeks an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to manage warehousing operations and ensure compliance with inventory standards. The role includes overseeing stock takes, addressing variances, and maintaining relationships with customers. Ideal candidates will have a diploma in logistics and significant supervisory experience in a manufacturing context. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities Warehousing Operations Manage weekly cycle counts and coordinate monthly stock takes with production and support teams.
Ensure the application of FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and Line-of-Sight (LOS) principles during stock storage and issuing.
Investigate and report on stock variances, taking corrective action where required.
Oversee the receipt, coding, and compliant storage of stock and ensure proper handling of non-conforming products and daily scrap removal.
Collaborate with the Planning team to verify the receipt and issuing of goods, semi-finished components, and final products.
Monitor and control damaged stock, investigate causes, and implement corrective measures.
Ensure adherence to consignment stock procedures.
Develop and maintain work instructions and stay current with inventory control technologies.
Administration, Systems Reporting Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all inventory-related data in SAP.
Issue credit notes and maintain accurate records.
Capture returned rotations, scrap variances, and updates on spreadsheets.
Maintain proper document control and tracking systems.
Ensure timely procurement of stationery, PPE, and other warehouse supplies.
Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly health and safety checklists and report incidents promptly.
Compliance Operate within established controls and procedures to ensure process integrity.
Identify and escalate departmental risks to management.
Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations and internal procedures, particularly those related to health and safety.
Maintain required documentation and reduce wasteful or irregular expenditure.
Customer Service Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
Represent the department in meetings with key stakeholders.
Address service issues promptly and professionally, aligned with company values and standards.
Staff Supervision Ensure that all team members have up-to-date performance agreements.
Conduct quarterly performance appraisals and monitor individual and team objectives.
Identify employee development needs and coordinate relevant training with HR.
Address employee relations matters effectively and in accordance with company policies.
Cost and Financial Control Contribute to the budget preparation process.
Monitor and control departmental expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial policies and budgetary limits.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
Report on financial deviations to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager.
Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications Diploma in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field (NQF Level 5) Experience Up to 5 years' experience in Warehousing, Inventory, Logistics, or Supply Chain in a manufacturing environment At least 1–2 years at a supervisory level Technical Competencies Proficient in MS Office Suite, SAP, ERP systems, and other inventory-related software Strong understanding of warehousing, logistics, and stock control practices and procedures Behavioural Competencies Proactive and hands-on leadership style Strong planning and organisational skills Analytical and detail-focused Effective problem solver with sound decision-making abilities Resilient under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Customer-centric mindset with strong interpersonal skills Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
