A medical solutions company is seeking a Trauma Sales Rep in Sandton, Gauteng. This role requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in Trauma/Orthopaedic sales. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with surgeons and hospitals, assisting in theatres as needed, and exceeding sales targets. A BS/BA qualification in a relevant field is preferred. Interested individuals should be comfortable in emergency environments and willing to work on call during weekends and nights.

Trauma Sales Rep Sandton, Gauteng

Introduction: Our client in the medical industry is looking for a Sales Representative. You will be primarily responsible for preparing for all aspects of the sales accountabilities, representing the company as a leader in the industry and the marketplace by promoting their products to the target market comprised of surgeons and healthcare professionals.

This will be achieved by meeting sales targets and increasing sales through assisting existing customers and building new accounts as well as identifying new customers in order to grow their territory. The candidate will be responsible for communicating with current and new customer accounts regarding a variety of topics including product updates, changes to product portfolio and educational programs.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Identify target surgeons.
  • Plan and implement appropriate strategy for the territory in order to achieve sales targets.
  • Work in conjunction with sales teams (both regional and national).
  • Callback customers as required to identify sales opportunities and customer service activities.
  • Identifies the needs of new prospects and develops the appropriate responses to queries.
  • Assist in theatre as and when required by healthcare professionals.
  • Assists in developing responses to requests for Quotes and in creating proposal presentations.
  • Performs field calls for the account and assigned territory.
  • Schedule appointments to present company product offerings.
  • Cross-sell additional products as they become available.
  • Implement new sales plans and effective marketing strategies to position the organization competitively.
  • Meeting and exceeding business targets (quotas).
  • To provide forecasts and market research information to divisional management as and when required.
  • Acquires a basic understanding of the field to include regulatory compliance issues.
  • Consistently supports compliance and the principles of responsibility (SAMED) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting noncompliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements, and Companys policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the resolution of any problems that arise on the account.
  • Maintain training in sales skills and products.
  • Remains current and up to date on industry, customer, and competitive trends.
  • Participates and attends sales meetings and professional association meetings outside of regular business hours, as required.

Minimum requirements:

  • Driver's license and own transportation will be advantageous.
  • Willingness to work on call hours during weekends and at night.
  • BS/BA qualification in relevant field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the Trauma/Orthopaedic is essential.
  • Proven Sales record.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships (with ortho surgeons & hospitals in respective areas would be advantageous).
  • Must be comfortable in emergency/operating room environments.
