  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment within Production, or Technical Departments.

Job description

A challenging opportunity exists at Metals Rosslyn for a Technical Manager.

The primary objective for this role is to lead the technical team in ensuring efficient asset lifecycle management i.e. purchasing correct equipment, operating as per standards, maintenance, repair, replacement, problem solving to achieve safety, quality, asset availability and reliability goals.

The position reports to the Plant Manager and is graded at a Peromnes 06. Key responsibilities include: drive the team to provide hands‑on technical expertise, continuous improvement, improvement projects, maintenance, support on conversions; focus on reducing electrical and mechanical breakdowns, including plant services, and reduce overall unplanned downtime. Conduct 5 WHYs, RCAs or other problem‑solving techniques to ensure the problems are resolved at the source and do not reoccur, ensure actions are implemented and sustainable. Manage assets throughout the asset lifecycle – procuring of equipment, installation, commissioning, operating, maintaining, repairing, replacing, disposal. Drive AM KPIs – Unplanned downtime, MTTR, MTBF, asset availability, schedule attainment, backlog count, AM maturity score. Oversee the identification and mitigation of risks around assets – safety risk, business interruption, reduced performance. Apply Leading and Managing Change (LMC) process to ensure stakeholders buy‑in for necessary improvements. Drive and encourage the team to apply the Foundation Practices, ensure adherence to standards and coach team in Foundation principles and practices.
