Description

Starke Ayres is a leading supplier of premium agricultural products across Africa. We are seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Customer Service Clerk to support the company’s sales operations by ensuring accurate, efficient order processing and high levels of customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Order Processing
    • Process customer orders accurately and promptly according to priority and customer requirements
    • Liaise with depots to ensure correct and timely order dispatch
    • Escalate orders that cannot be processed according to instructions to the National Customer Service Supervisor
    • Conduct ad hoc price checks by comparing sales orders with approved price lists and specials
    • Refer customers on stop supply or with exceeded credit limits to the Credit Controller for decision-making
    • Ensure COD orders above the authorised limit are cleared and approved
    • Verify that COD customers comply with FICA requirements
  • Customer Service & Support
    • Provide proactive updates on order status to internal stakeholders and customers when required
    • Respond efficiently to customer queries and internal sales-related enquiries
    • Maintain professional, courteous, and solution-oriented communication with customers
    • Promote sales where appropriate and assist with customer walk-ins
    • Control and reconcile cash received over the counter against daily invoices
  • Administration & Operational Support
    • Support the National Customer Services Department with ad hoc administrative tasks
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity in all customer and order-related documentation
    • Ensure work is completed within required deadlines and service standards
  • Professional Conduct & Values
    • Act responsibly and professionally, upholding the company’s values and ethical standards
    • Maintain a positive company image in all customer and internal interactions
    • Demonstrate attention to accuracy, accountability, and follow-through on commitments
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (essential)
  • Tertiary qualification in Customer Service or Administration (advantageous)
