Core Description

Responsible to identify, initiate, develop, promote, procure, implement and maintain global and African submarine cable connectivity and specific related product via Telkom's infrastructure facilities. Evaluate international cable projects that may impact on Telkom's global market positioning and develop strategies for possible participation or competitive impact management strategies. Provide capital and operational budgetary support for global capacity projects. Maintain good stakeholder relations for ensuring a protected marine environment for safe operation and maintenance of submarine cables.

Job Responsibilities
Perform Global Capacity Development and Consortium Operations (70%)
  • Provide High Level Support
  • Facilitate procurement processes
  • Assist with implementation of quality/ productivity submarine cable systems/ network
  • Arrange and schedule required training courses
  • Plan and design awareness, program and material
  • Implement and contribute to Business Plan & design operational plan for environment
  • Ensure quality & timelines are met Drive implementation of solutions
  • Compile human capital plan and work force planning
  • Obtain required information from key role players
  • Ensure cable protection in marine and terrestrial environment
  • Evaluate & drive new cable developments and proposals
  • Protect and manage Telkom interests in international consortia
Build relationships with internal and external customers (10%)
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders by building and managing internal and external customer relationships
Manages people performance and development (10%)
  • Establish conducive work environment
  • Establish an enabling work environment and culture for optimum staff performance
  • Provide people management to the team
  • Arrange and schedule required training courses
  • Identify targets & goals for environment
  • Monitor and measure success
  • Provide appropriate training and development initiatives
  • Apply performance measures and incentives in a fair and equitable manner
