SHERQ Officer

Our reputable Freight Client is currently seeking a skilled SHERQ Officer based in Maydon Warf, Dbn. This is an AA position. Salary : Market Related (Basic + benefits including leave, annual bonus, provident fund).

Working hours : 08 :

Job Purpose

Co-ordinates and/or executes the applications associated with complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act through implementing interventions and processes in accordance with legislative provisions; conducting assessments and investigations; consolidating and presenting information; guiding understanding and advising/recommending remedial/corrective measures; and reporting on activities and outcomes.

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric / Std 10 / Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management or similar qualification
  • NOSA accredited SAMTRAC Certification
  • 3 years' experience in Health and Safety in a heavy industrialized environment
  • Completed Certificate courses in First Aid and Fire Fighting
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Excellent Computer Skills (Microsoft Office applications)
  • Must be able to work shifts and overtime and have reliable transport to and from work
Responsibilities
  • Conduct and follow-up on daily safety inspections.
  • Enforce compliance with the OHS Act and Codes of Good Practice.
  • Advise employers and employees on matters relating to health and safety.
  • Ensure that complaints and incident investigations are conducted.
  • Plan for Safety meetings with Management and staff.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety Policies are updated, accurate, and in place in line with updated legislation.
  • Attend to other administrative, reporting, and operational requirements associated with the department.
