Job summary

A governmental agency in Pretoria seeks a Quantity Surveyor to prepare construction estimates, manage contract disputes, and provide advisory services. Job description

The primary responsibility of the position is the preparation of Construction Works Preliminary Estimates, Bills of Quantities & Final Accounts, Dispute Resolution, Scope / Drawings Change Management, Stakeholder/ Client Advisory and General Administration of progress (physical and financial) of works with minimum supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The position will achieve its purpose through the following key responsibilities:

  1. 1. Provision of Preliminary Estimate for building & Civil Projects;
  2. 2. Provide quality advice on contract administrations;
  3. 3. Provision of professional advice to clients in regards to proposed capital works;
  4. 4. Resolve contractual disputes of construction contract works;
  5. 5. Track changes to design and / or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly; and
  6. 6. Accurately prepare final Accounts and Detail Bill of Quantitates.
Knowledge & Experience
  1. 1. At least three (3) years’ experience carrying out estimating works;
  2. 2. At least two (2) years’ experience in the Field of Quantity Surveyor and Estimating;
  3. 3. Strength in analyzing, researching, organizing and problem solving of Contract Law and Management of Contractual projects;
  4. 4. Proven knowledge of the government tendering process and its requirements;
  5. 5. Proven knowledge of necessary Acts and Legislations governing procurement, payments and finance;
  6. 6. Familiarity of current principles, methods and practices relating to Quantity Surveying and its Standards.
Skills & Abilities
  1. 1. Ability to read, interpret, extract quantities and detect any discrepancies from Construction drawings;
  2. 2. High attention to detail and a methodical approach to work;
  3. 3. Ability to interpret regulations and standards;
  4. 4. Good command of written and oral communication skills;
  5. 5. Demonstrated interpersonal skills;
  6. 6. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Additional Information
PERSONAL CHARACTER AND ELIGIBILITY
