Senior Inventory Controller – Sasol

Location: Sandton

Employment Type: Full‑time

Job Function: Management and Manufacturing

Industry: Chemical Manufacturing

Purpose of Job: Implement company adopted inventory management methodology with regards to Stock‑on‑Consignment in Sasol's Retail business.

Maximise uptime by monitoring adequate stock levels at retail sites via ATG system while optimising investment in inventory considering business risks.

Investigate variances (theoretical stock vs physical stock) and clearly document reasons for variances (strictly adhering to SOX control requirements).

Prepare, maintain and analyse inventory reconciliations (strictly adhering SOX control requirements)

Key Accountabilities
  • Monitor consignment inventory movements for Retail sites on consignment stock.
  • Maintain and manage wet stock reconciliations (WSRs) for all retail sites on consignment.
  • Identify and investigate WSR discrepancies.
  • Handle customer queries and provide timely feedback for consignment inventory at retail sites.
  • Process stock adjustments in line with periodic inventory reporting requirements (strictly adhering SOX control requirements).
  • Report on consignment inventory as per management and compliance requirements, and provide ad hoc inventory‑related reporting when needed.
  • Ensure strict compliance to SOX controls and related processes, procedures and documentation / record‑keeping requirements (including cooperation with Customer Demand Fulfilment team on Mass Balance etc).
  • Cooperate with relevant stakeholders (CDF, Finance, Retail Operations) to maintain optimal levels of inventory by site (optimise working capital), monitor inventory levels and replenishment orders.
  • Adhere to relevant inventory policies, procedures (SOPs) and accounting standards.
  • Provide ad‑hoc cross‑functional support to Retail Business Support team as and when required (billing, master data, UAT etc.)
  • Review and update inventory policies, recommend, influence & motivate for operational changes to improve efficiency or performance.
