Project requirements

Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Engagement Length: 12 Months

Years of Experience Required: 5+ Years of Experience

Qualifications: Com Sci Honors | Computer Engineering | Information Engineering

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days)

Core Tech Stack
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Strong experience with ReactJS (with hooks & state management)
  • Familiarity with Material UI for component styling and Formik for form handling
  • Back-end experience with Node.js, Prisma ORM, and MySQL (InnoDB)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (ECS, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudFront, CloudWatch)
  • Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines and GitHub Actions) and Git/Gitflow workflows
  • Testing with Jest and Cypress (unit and integration/e2e)
  • Experience in Agile Scrum environments with Jira

Additional technical requirements

  • Awareness that the current stack includes RedwoodJS v8, with migration plans
  • Exposure to serverless/microservices architectures (AWS Lambda containers)
  • Familiarity with deployment via GitHub Actions alongside Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Ability to describe core engineering concepts clearly with production-ready experience
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, including refactoring and maintainability
  • Advanced database knowledge with performance optimization

What will you be doing?

  1. Develop end-to-end features across front-end and back-end systems.
  2. Build responsive UIs with ReactJS, Material UI, and Formik.
  3. Design and implement API services with Node.js, Prisma, and MySQL.
  4. Write robust, testable code with Jest and Cypress.
  5. Deploy and manage services in AWS (ECS, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudFront).
  6. Work with Docker and Bitbucket Pipelines to enable CI/CD.
  7. Participate in code reviews, refactoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Collaborate with engineers, tech leads, and product stakeholders within Scrum pods.
  9. Ensure database performance optimization and scalability for high-volume systems.
  10. Take ownership of features from design to production with high quality and reliability.
  11. Contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration, and problem-solving.
