Qualifications

  • Direct and coordinate the work of site teams, including subcontractors and labourers.
  • Interpret construction plans and schedules, allocate resources, and plan ahead to avoid delays.
  • Ensure that all work meets required standards and specifications.
  • Enforce compliance with safety legislation and conduct toolbox talks.
  • Monitor material usage and stock levels, and coordinate deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities and provide regular updates.
  • Identify and resolve site issues quickly to avoid project delays.
  • Liaise with engineers, inspectors, and other professionals during site inspections.
  • Support the development of junior staff and ensure knowledge transfer.

  • Team Leadership: Direct and coordinate the work of site teams, including subcontractors, tradespeople, and labourers. Provide guidance, delegate tasks, and ensure optimal productivity.
  • Work Planning: Interpret construction plans and schedules, allocate resources accordingly, and plan ahead to avoid delays and downtime.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work meets required standards and specifications. Conduct inspections and rectify defects or substandard work.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce compliance with safety legislation and internal site safety procedures. Conduct toolbox talks and ensure PPE is used correctly.
  • Material Management: Monitor material usage and stock levels. Coordinate deliveries and ensure efficient use of resources to minimize waste.
  • Progress Reporting: Maintain accurate records of site activities and provide regular updates on progress, delays, or issues to site management.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve site issues quickly and effectively to avoid project delays.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with engineers, inspectors, and other professionals during site inspections or project meetings.
  • Mentorship & Training: Support the development of junior staff and ensure knowledge transfer of best practices and construction methods.
Qualifications
  • Education & Qualifications
    • Matric (Grade 12) certificate (essential)
    • Trade Certificate (e.g., Carpentry, Bricklaying, Electrical, Plumbing) or NQF Level 4–5 in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (advantageous)
    • Valid driver’s license (Code 08 or higher)
    • Health and Safety training (e.g., First Aid, SHE Rep, or OHS Certificate)
