A leading service provider in backup power solutions seeks an experienced mechanic in Gauteng to ensure the optimal performance of fleet vehicles, including trucks and forklifts. The role involves conducting inspections, implementing preventative maintenance, and performing necessary repairs. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience and a Diesel/Petrol Mechanic Trade Test Certificate. The ideal applicant will possess own transport, tools, and a valid SA driver's licence, and be willing to work overtime as needed.
Repair and maintain all fleet vehicles which includes trucks, forklifts, and motor vehicles. The fleet will be kept in good running condition by conducting inspections, running and recording scheduled preventative maintenance programmes as well as doing necessary repairs as required. Some after hour work, breakdowns and travel to site will also be expected.
Diesel / Petrol Mechanic Trade Test Certificate. Communicate fluently in English (reading and writing). Minimum of 10 years' experience. Experience on vehicles and Code 14 trucks. Own reliable transport. Lives in the North of Johannesburg for call out purposes, when required. Must be prepared to work overtime from time to time.
Valid SA driver's licence and own transport. Must have own basic tools; if not the client will provide and deduct from salary – special tools will be supplied by the client. Self‑motivated with the ability to use initiative and operate with minimal supervision. Not get involved in any unethical business practices.
Responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles, machinery and light trucks. Oversee maintenance inspections. Monitor inventory. Assemble mechanical components. Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability. Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements. Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner. Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems. Schedule and manage service register of the whole fleet. Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests. Identify and replace worn and damaged parts. Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts or systems—such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, oil systems, control linkages and clutches. Verify vehicle condition and performance by conducting test drives. Maintain all vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Attend to breakdowns. Track vehicle mileage with all fleet users. Uphold a clean, neat and tidy work environment ensuring all tools and equipment are always clean and tidy.
