Sales Manager (Pet Food),KZN
An established and respected wholesaler in the veterinary sector is seeking a highly skilled Sales Manager to drive growth, manage sales execution, and lead a dedicated sales team within South Africa. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in expanding the reach of upmarket pet food brands, implementing effective sales strategies, and developing strong customer relationships, including veterinarians and farmers.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate plus at least 7 years of relevant industry experience in a similar role.
- Formal qualification will be advantageous.
- Strong data analysis skills with an understanding of how market trends impact sales.
- Proficient in Pastel, MS Excel, and Word (non-negotiable).
- Experience with negotiating contracts
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building abilities.
- High literacy, numeracy, attention to detail, and well-developed organisational skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Must reside within the relevant geographic area and be willing to travel.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
Key Responsibilities
- Align sales results, activities, and strategies with the company’s KPIs and operating plans.
- Lead and develop a sales executive team to deliver sustainable and profitable results.
- Drive sales growth and enhance market share, brand awareness, and customer loyalty across all channels.
- Build future-focused strategies to grow the pet food business.
- Collaborate with internal divisions and marketing to implement comprehensive sales strategies.
- Monitor budgets and ensure cost-effective sales target achievements.
- Identify promotional opportunities and facilitate their execution.
- Analyse sales data and market trends to uncover new opportunities and address areas for improvement.
- Oversee client onboarding, maintain professional client relationships, and deliver after-sales service.
- Attend and actively participate in product training to maintain expert knowledge.
- Handle administrative tasks, including credit applications, and ensure compliance with POPI Act requirements.
