About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineer to join our Exports Division, focusing on developing and expanding sales across Sub-Saharan Africa. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in heavy manufacturing and / or the steel industry, with the technical knowledge and commercial acumen to promote engineering solutions, build strong client relationships, and drive revenue growth in emerging African markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute export sales strategies for heavy manufacturing and steel products within Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with distributors, contractors, and direct clients.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts by providing strong technical sales support and aftersales service.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution proposals tailored to client requirements.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and business risks across multiple African regions.
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and monthly / quarterly business reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, export documentation, and cross-border logistics.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Regular travel across the Sub-Saharan Africa region to build networks, strengthen relationships, and close deals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgical Engineering or related field (preferred).
- 5 to 10 years of technical sales experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, or related engineering sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to sell into Sub-Saharan Africa markets, with knowledge of regional business practices.
- Strong technical understanding of heavy manufacturing and steel processes, products, and applications.
- Proven track record in export sales, business development, and key account management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa.
