A leading resource company in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a Sales Consultant to promote and sell various merchandise and partnership programmes. The role involves developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong customer relationships to meet sales targets. Candidates should have a National Senior Certificate and at least 2 years of sales experience, preferably in retail or wholesale. The position is field-based, requiring regular travel and client interaction.

Salary: R16 000 per month + Incentives + Commission
Working Environment: Field-based, client-facing role (on the road). Required to work every second Saturday.
The Sales Consultant is responsible for promoting and selling company merchandise, sample books, and partnership programmes to customers within the allocated area. The role focuses on developing new business opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships in order to achieve sales targets.
Education: National Senior Certificate required. A Certificate or Diploma in Sales/Marketing is advantageous.
Experience: At least 2 years of sales experience, preferably in a retail or wholesale environment. Exposure to the interior design industry will be an advantage.
Other Requirements: Code B Driver’s License (essential). Fluent in English and at least one other South African language (depending on area).
Technical Skills: Sales techniques and negotiation; Product knowledge; Presentation and database management; Market research and campaign implementation; Branding, PR, and publicity; Report writing and MS Office proficiency

1. Achieve Sales Targets (70%)
Visit customers according to a structured contact plan.
Sell merchandise and provide expert advice on product selection, pricing, and care.
Demonstrate product ranges, highlight promotions, and upsell where applicable.
Manage sample books, ensuring discontinued ranges are replaced.
Open new customer accounts and manage partnership applications.
Meet KPIs as per the Sales Matrix.
Submit weekly sales reports and call reports.
2. Develop New Business (5%)
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities.
Attend industry exhibitions and workshops to expand networks.
Grow the client base and increase brand awareness.
3. Build and Maintain Customer Relationships (10%)
Manage back-order lists and resolve queries timeously.
Provide customers with regular updates on orders and delivery timelines.
Escalate operational issues and complaints appropriately.
Ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
4. Finance & Payment Support (10%)
Resolve account queries before processing sales.
Follow up on payments and manage COD transactions accurately.
Liaise with Finance on payment-related issues.
5. Reporting & Administration (5%)
Attend weekly sales meetings and collaborate with the Sales/Area Manager.
Submit regular reports on sales performance, market activity, and competitor trends.
