A leading operational services company in South Africa is seeking a Control Room & Operations Technician responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant. The role involves monitoring plant systems, coordinating with maintenance teams, and conducting training for Control Room Operators. The Control Room & Operations Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant through the control room, accurate monitoring of plant systems, and effective coordination with operations and maintenance teams. The role focuses on plant status accuracy, operator competency, and operational discipline through structured checks and logging systems.
Lead and manage all plant check sheets and ensure accurate completion and reporting through OPSLOG.
Ensure efficient and competent operation of the Control Room at all times.
Monitor plant processes and systems, ensuring operating conditions remain within defined parameters.
Ensure the operating mimic accurately reflects the true plant status at all times.
Identify deviations, abnormalities, or alarms and initiate corrective actions or escalate appropriately.
Train, coach, and evaluate Control Room Operators to ensure operational competency and compliance.
Maintain accurate operational logs, shift handovers, and incident records.
Coordinate with maintenance, production, and technical teams to support plant availability and performance.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to plant operations, safety, and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Technical qualification in Operations, Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in a Control Room or plant operations environment.
Strong understanding of plant processes, operating mimics, and monitoring systems.
Experience using plant logging and reporting systems (OPSLOG or similar).
Ability to train and assess operators effectively.
