A prominent South African university is seeking an Associate Professor specializing in Information Systems. The successful candidate will have a PhD and considerable teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality teaching, supervising graduate research, and engaging in community outreach. This is a full-time permanent position offering a competitive remuneration package based on experience and qualifications.
Information Systems
The Department is situated within the Faculty of Commerce, primarily servicing students reading for the BBusSc, BCom and BSc (InfSys) degrees. The Department was first established at Rhodes University in 1980 as a sub-department of the Department of Business Administration (now Management). Today, it is a flourishing, independent Department with a full undergraduate and post‑graduate programme. Information Systems is a two‑year major that attracts numerous students intent on pursuing careers in either Information Systems or Accounting. All students are required to have completed a first‑year semester course in computing, offered by the Department of Computer Science, before registering for Information Systems. The Department offers courses at the second, third and fourth (honours) year levels, as well as Masters and PhD degrees by thesis.
All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, faculty, and/or university levels. In addition, an Associate Professor is to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning; research and community engagement, and contribute towards the institution's governance.

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R936,120.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R1,203,447.00
