Purpose Statement

• Fulfil the role of a subject matter expert and senior advisor on all matters relating to Quality Assurance (QA) architecture.
• Define the technology solutions for the domain and ensure it is designed and constructed to meet current and anticipated future technology requirements.
• Develop, maintain and ensure the usability of architectural components, in line with System Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) principles.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant tertiary qualification

Experience

Minimum:

• 8 or more years’ Software Development experience, including a minimum of:
  • 4+ years\' Software Design experience; and
  • 4+ years proven work experience in Software Engineering and Development (Cobol and/or Java and/or .NET and/or Python and/or JavaScript)
• UI Automation: Playwright + BrowserStack = fast, cross-broswer testing
• Load Testing: K6 for performance testing
• Observability: Instana and OpenSearch for deep diagnostics

Ideal

• In addition to the Minimum experience:
  • 4+ years’ proven experience as a QA Architect
  • Banking and Finance experience

Knowledge

Minimum:

• Systems architecture principles (IT technologies and software architecture)
• Systems analysis and design
• Agile systems development processes (CI/CD standards and Agile delivery methods)
• Software development (typed and scripting coding languages)
• Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) (designing and delivering scalable and resilient solutions)
• Standards and governance, and best practices to simplify standards and governance processes with adherence.

Ideal

• Solid understanding of:
  • Banking systems environment and business model
  • Business Process Modelling
  • Business Analysis
  • Cloud architectures
  • Big Data modelling
  • Best practices for QA
  • DevOps development culture and principles
  • Various development technologies (preferably: Cobol, Java, .NET, JavaScript and Python ecosystems)
