Responsibilities / Tasks
- Frontline sales i.e., meeting with clients, establishing their requirements, understand their processes, developing heat load summaries and solutions, equipment selections, costing the engineering scope, developing proposals, presentations, etc. and then negotiating the proposal with the client(s).
- Engineering, costing and proposals for industrial heating & refrigeration installations with the emphases on natural refrigerants, ammonia.
- Surveys and engineering studies at industrial refrigeration installations, prepare reports and present finding with costs options to client(s).
- Regular customer visits within GEA Africa’s area of responsibility i.e., Southern and Eastern Africa.
- Cooperation and liaison with other GEA business units to understand customers processes, exploring opportunities for heating and cooling installations.
- Participation in refrigeration tenders i.e., understanding contractual obligations and limitations, project timelines, quotations from vendors and suppliers, accurate costing and submit documentation.
- Develop a clear understanding of GEA refrigeration & heating products and equipment on offer; includes selection of GEA compressors, chillers, heat pumps or GEA Omni control systems by using RT Select.
- Manage and update Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database.
- Develop clear understanding and familiar with GEA protocols and workstreams in terms of compliancy, Health & Safety standards, CRM, PADB, scheduled training and updating Workday.
- Handover meetings of projects with required documentation and costings to the realization team.
- Assist realization team with project programs, including defining the project philosophy, activities, milestones, and resource requirements, as per the project & client requirement.
- Support the realization team (project engineers) to manage project deliverables, customer expectations in line with the project plan.
- Prepare costings and documentation for project variations as required.
- Attending conferences / seminars, locally and abroad, related to heating and refrigeration technologies as well as application knowledge i.e., fruit, poultry, beef, breweries, soft drinks etc.
- Accurate and detailed documentation, distributed to the required parties and accessible to the HRT Team. This includes proposals to customers, survey reports, quotations received from vendors, drawings etc.
- Timeous submitting of expense sheet with receipts.
- Record keeping and managing of travel expenses.
- Attending regular Solution Sales meetings and clear communication with Team Leader and other members of the Solution Sales Team regarding proposal, planned customer visits, feedback from ongoing projects etc.
- Any reasonable ad hoc task requested by his/her superiors must be adhered to and completed in a safe manner.
Your Profile / Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Preferable
- Minimum 5-years' work experience in industrial refrigeration design, costing / execution.
- Alternatively Trade Test in Industrial Refrigeration or Practical Experience in Industrial Refrigeration Environment
- Strong understanding of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics (secondary cooling systems).
- Proficient in English
- Strong customer orientation with the focus on service delivery
- Ability to engage with customers at different levels
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to formalize detailed business letters and document.
- Ability to select equipment and to do design checks.
- Strong knowledge of the OHS Act and experience with site safety files.
- A strong understanding of SANS 10147 and SANS 347
- Preferably SAQCC Cat B & A
- Good communication and presentation skills.
