Role Overview
A leading supplier of purees, concentrates and frozen fruits is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team to plan and schedule production and ensure production requirements and targets are met. This role reports to the Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Display a leadership role in HACCP practices and ensure compliance.
- Apply food safety principles and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policy and requirements.
- Manage upskilling and train workforce on all product types and production processes.
- Monitor staff performance and follow disciplinary guide for progressive discipline.
- Minimise contamination of foreign material and objects during production runs.
- Ensure production is managed according to the open works order and update work orders immediately.
- Monitor production processes and make necessary changes to limit bottlenecks.
- Ensure packed stock is palletised correctly before dispatch to the warehouse.
- Maintain effective and efficient production at all times.
- Monitor wastage and packing materials and destroy excess labels at the end of the production run.
- Ensure final product meets specification standard and customer temperature control and quality of product is maintained.
- Finished goods must be dispatched to the warehouse within 1 hour of being packed.
- Issue and complete works orders for picking to minimise delays in production.
- Complete check and submit timesheets and leave forms to payroll.
- Ensure all entry and exits to the production areas are clean and clear.
- Teach and ensure safe working practices and that staff are trained and certified on the machinery they operate.
- Apply clean‑as‑you‑go principle and maintain and schedule maintenance of all machinery and equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness and clean up during and after shift.
- Investigate and implement preventative measures when non‑conformance is found.
- Deep clean as per schedule.
Key Requirements
BSc Food Science or relevant engineering degree with at least a year of previous work experience. Knowledge and experience of production methods and processes required. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Sage and stock management systems will be advantageous.
