Job Purpose
To source parts internationally and research local markets for price, product, and market demand. The role focuses on enhancing the product offering to the customer base and building a diverse skill set across the vehicle parc.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Research & Strategy
- Sourcing & Analysis: Research new and existing vehicle parts within the industry and source parts internationally.
- Market Intelligence: Continuously review competitors' offerings , monitor market trends , and make use of car park information to determine current market demand.
- Growth: Identify opportunities for growth in vehicle lines and parts.
2. Technical Cataloging & Systems Management
- Data Maintenance: Ensure weekly and monthly targets are met for adding new product numbers onto the system.
- System Integrity: Maintain current product numbers and ensure parts availability.
- Reporting: Compile monthly/weekly reports on new developments, requirements, and market trends.
3. Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Process Optimization: Identify systems improvements and drive recommendations for change to maximize departmental efficiencies.
- Cost Management: Continuously review ways to aid efficiency, add value, and reduce costs.
- Support: Assist branches that dial in for assistance on parts or general queries.
4. Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing team on leaflets and initiatives and liaise with internal departments, customers, and suppliers.
- Negotiation: Engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the purchasing strategy.
- Communication: Stay current on changes affecting supply and demand and advise others of any impact.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Essential: Matric/Grade 12 (with Mathematics).
- Preferred: Post-matric qualification, Technical, or Mechanical Training.
Experience
- Experience working in the Motor Industry and environment.
- Experience in cataloging.
- Hands-on experience with product development software and database management.
- Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
Technical Skills
- High level of competency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong technical knowledge and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of legislative requirements and stock control.
