Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Johannesburg is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to optimize plant systems and infrastructure. The role requires extensive experience in EPC or EPCM projects, focusing on process design and safety standards. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and a strong problem-solving ability. Immediate start is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in process engineering.
  • Proven background in EPC or EPCM project execution.
  • Registration with ECSA or actively working toward registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review process engineering deliverables according to project standards.
  • Perform technical calculations and simulations to support engineering decisions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Support the HAZOP and safety design processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers during the 3D model design phase.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and safety standards.

Overview

Job Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Melrose. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in EPC or EPCM projects within the Energy, Chemicals, or Resources sectors. The successful applicant will play a critical role in process design and optimisation, ensuring the safe and efficient development of plant systems and infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering (BSc or BEng)
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in process engineering
  • Proven background in EPC or EPCM project execution
  • Specific expertise in :
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD)
  • Mass and Component Flow Diagrams (MCFD)
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
  • 3D process design models
  • Knowledge and / or experience with :
  • HAZOP , HAZLOC , FMECA methodologies
  • advantageous)
  • Registration with ECSA or actively working toward registration
  • advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review process engineering deliverables in accordance with project standards
  • Perform technical calculations and simulations to support engineering decisions
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and risk assessments
  • Support the HAZOP and safety design processes
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers during the 3D model design phase
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable industry codes, project specifications, and safety standards
