Job summary

Purpose of Job

Performing statutory inspections on Pressure Equipment in Sasol Sasolburg Plants.

Key Accountabilities
  • In-service inspections including:
    • Statutory inspection on pressure vessels
    • Inspection of piping systems
    • Inspection of valves and safety valves
    • Inspection of tanks
  • Statutory record keeping of interventions on pressure equipment
  • Inspection of corrosion prevention systems
  • Technical input into failure and repair studies
  • Coordination and technical inputs into risk‑based inspection studies on pressure equipment.
  • Coordination of non‑destructive testing.
Formal Qualifications
  • Grade 12, Maths & Science / N3 with appropriate subjects (Maths / Science / Drawings)
  • SAQCC Competent Inspector – Pressure Vessels
  • At least one of the following:
    • SAQCC Competent Inspector – Pressure Vessels Non‑Metallics
    • SAQCC Competent Inspector – Boilers / Steam Generator
    • SAQCC Inspector of Pressurised Equipment
    • SAQCC Inspector of Pressurised Non‑Metallics Equipment
  • Welding Inspector Level 1 may be advantageous
  • Welding Inspector Level 2 may be advantageous
  • Coatings course may be advantageous
  • Penetrant testing level 1 & 2 may be advantageous
  • Magnetic Particle testing levels 1 & 2 may be advantageous
Work Experience
  • 4–6 years work relevant experience in petro‑chemical industries
  • Working knowledge of and experience in API inspection codes
Applicant must be able to work in a petrochemical environment, including:
  • Vessel entry
  • Work in elevated positions
  • Work outside in plant environment
