Overview

Description/Synopsis: We are looking for a reliable Plant Operator to join our wastewater treatment and biogas plant in Rustenburg. The role includes operating plant equipment, doing basic lab tests, routine maintenance, and recording data. Shift work, weekend overtime, and good physical health are required. Computer literacy is essential, and mechanical or electrical skills are an advantage. This position offers a competitive salary and opportunities to develop your technical skills.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Mechanical or electrical knowledge/qualifications will be an advantage.
• Fitter, electrician, or millwright apprentices are also welcome if willing to work as operators.
• Good physical health (annual medical exams are required).
• Able and willing to do physical work.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Zero tolerance for alcohol and drug use.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant systems using SCADA for basic process control.
• Perform daily lab tests and interpret results to adjust plant operations.
• Conduct basic fault-finding and problem-solving for equipment issues.
• Carry out routine maintenance, such as oil changes on pumps and cleaning filters or strainers.
• Record operational data accurately in Microsoft Excel. Good computer skills are essential.
• Willingness to work overtime (including weekends). Shift work is required as the plant operates 24/7.
