Overview

Viridian is looking for a bookkeeper to support the team on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week). The bookkeeper will work closely with the CEO, COO and project teams to ensure excellent financial record-keeping and reporting, track expenses against budgets, and manage payroll.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to balance two roles within small businesses, or for those seeking a part-time, flexible role. Ideally, the bookkeeper would be able to work at the Viridian office (Woodstock) from time to time, and is interested in working with our team on a long-term basis.

Who we’re looking for
  • Qualifications & experience: Relevant University Degree or Qualifications, and certificates/ courses in project management or auditing are advantageous.
  • 3+ years’ experience in financial administration, financial management and/or bookkeeping.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets, reconciling expenses and bank statements, tracking project expenses, preparing and managing VAT returns, basic payroll administration, and producing basic financial reports.
  • Experience with project audits, project management and grant-financed projects would be an advantage.
  • Able to keep track of external deadlines and deliverables related to financial reporting and aspects of the business.
  • Able to work with a hybrid team and with multiple project managers across projects.
  • Collaborative, but decisive and assertive when necessary.
  • Skilled at assessing and using a range of digital/online collaboration tools, and accounting software, including Xero, SimplePay, etc.
How you will work for us
  • 15-20 hours per week. Available office hours would be agreed on. Our team is relatively flexible about when these hours are run, to help accommodate another part-time role.
  • The Viridian team works in our Woodstock office on Tuesdays and Fridays. Ideally, the bookkeeper would work in-office with the team once a week, or once every two weeks.
  • The budget for this role is R13,000-R18,000, depending on experience. The Viridian leave policy is 21 days per annum for full-time contractors, and this would be worked out pro rata for this role.
  • You will require a stable internet connection, appropriate home work environment, and laptop.
