Job summary

A global mining client based in Limpopo is seeking an experienced Miner Development to oversee operations, manage safety protocols, and ensure production targets are met. The ideal candidate should possess a National Driver's License, National Blasting Certificate, and extensive underground mining experience. This position emphasizes safety and effective blasting techniques while providing leadership to mining assistants. Preference is given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans from local communities.

Qualifications

  • 2 years' relevant experience in a Miner position.
  • 2 years’ experience as Primary Machine Operator with onsite Miner / Blaster training.
  • 1.5 years’ experience as trainee Miner / Blaster.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Operators and General Mining Assistants during shifts.
  • Conduct starts of shift safety meeting and provide instruction.
  • Ensure safety and effective blasting.

Job description

An exciting opportunity exists with our global mining client for an experienced Miner Development based in Limpopo. The successful candidate will oversee Operators and General Mining Assistants during shift and ensure correct instruction, maintain safety, effective blasting and that production targets achieved.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • National Driver’s License
  • National Blasting Certificate
  • 2 years' relevant experience in a Miner position
  • 2 years’ experience as Primary Machine Operator with onsite Miner / Blaster training through training centre and 1.5 years’ experience as trainee Miner / Blaster
  • Underground Mining experience
  • Health and Safety Standards and procedures knowledge
  • Knowledge of reef types
  • Knowledge of materials utilized
  • Correct handling of explosives
Key Performance Areas
  • Safety, Health and Environment
    • Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act
  • Operations & Technical Input
    • Conduct starts of shift safety meeting and provide instruction to crew of Operators and General Mining Assistant
    • Oversee shift to ensure safety and production targets achieved
    • Ensure safe and effective blasting
    • Conduct end of shift procedures, safety checks and reporting
