Job summary

A leading automotive manufacturer in Pretoria seeks a maintenance technician to ensure plant maintenance and repairs are performed effectively. The ideal candidate will have a Millwright qualification, 3-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, and excellent fault-finding skills. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, diagnosis of breakdown issues, and compliance with safety standards. Applications close on the 29th of October.

Job description
PURPOSE

Responsibility for plant maintenance, both breakdowns and assigned tasks (mechanical and electrical) on a shift basis.

To assist in problem solving to ensure stoppages are kept to a minimum.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Performing routine and planned machine maintenance / Performing breakdown maintenance operations
  • Identifying and respond to safety hazards
  • Compiling and maintaining records of machine history
  • Ensuring that electrical equipment and machinery, repair schedules are met according to the scheduled time allocated
  • Immediate diagnosis of the breakdown problem and identify a solution to the problem (Pre-requisite)
  • Maintaining critical spares for the various robots, controllers, welders and various spares needed in the plant, etc.
  • Ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, electronic equipment is in good working order through the implementation and control of the CMMS program
  • All maintenance and repairs are to be in line with TI Automotive standards
  • Assisting maintenance and production team with TPM implementation.
ASSET CARE
  • Effective management of the allocated maintenance budget
  • Carry out stock takes as defined to ensure availability of spares.
  • Assist with any breakdown that arises within the Plant
  • Isolate and forbid the utilization of any equipment that presents a risk to employees until the problem is fixed.
  • Ensure ongoing building maintenance programs.
  • E.g. painting flooring, lighting roofing drainage etc.
  • Implementation of TPM Systems and training of first level maintenance
  • Ensure correct application of LOTO instructions and rules when doing any maintenance interaction on Machines.
  • Assist contractors and other personal with LOTO arrangement when and where applicable.
  • Ensure the proper housekeeping of any areas when electrical and mechanical are concerned.
  • The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • NQF 4 (Grade 12) qualification + Millwright / Industrial Electrical Trade test (Red Seal) with Fitting Knowledge
  • At least 3-5 years working experience within Maintenance Department (preferable Automotive Manufacturing Company)
  • Working knowledge in hydraulics and pneumatics, Electrical and Mechanical repairs, general engineering and machining
  • Knowledge of different machine types, e.g. compressors, etc.
  • Excellent Fault-Finding Skills
  • Basic Health & Safety knowledge OHS Act
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and electrical drawings
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to build and repair electrical circuits
  • Knowledge of production process, tool room and jigs & fixtures
  • Knowledge in quality management, IATF
  • Good communication skills and Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be required to walk or stand.

Job requires use of hands, hand tools, and measuring equipment.

The employee is required to occasionally lift and / or move up to 15kgs.

The employee is required to carry out visual and audio inspections at times.

The job also requires working on heights, work on ladders, uneven terrain, and confined / cramped areas.

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving equipment, live electrical panels, working on heights, hot surfaces, cramped areas and chemicals.
