Metal Consultant (Purchasing) required in Port Elizabeth.
A Metal Consultant (Purchasing Metallic Department) is required for permanent employment based in Port Elizabeth.
Salary: R35 000 to R50 000 per month commensurate with qualification and experience + benefits and relocation costs if out of town.
Requirements
- Degree/National Diploma in the following disciplines – Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance or Business Management
- Minimum 3 years of direct purchasing experience in the automotive or related industry
- Knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures and legal requirements in respect of the platinum metal in the South African context

Key Performance Areas
- Identify and ensure correction variances in inventory volumes at each of the Coaters and Canners by doing monthly variance reports from SAP to ensure the correct price level
- Conduct audit physical inventory at location at each of the Canners at the end of the year to ensure correct stock levels
- Analyze inventory requirements by verifying the quantities with the suppliers to sustain the supply chain
- Prepare and present, for approval, the financial liquidity report to ensure within budget
- Prepare and issue purchase order authorisations to Traders via SAP to ensure timeous availability
- Analyze and approve purchase invoices received from the suppliers to ensure alignment to pre-approved pricing parameters for purchases
- Issue sales invoices generated from SAP to exporters to ensure timeous financial recovery within the stipulated cost model time frame
- Prepare the Bill of Materials for each component in SAP by creating and maintaining the correct specification level to prevent over and under recovery
- Prepare and submit the annual inventory forecast for strategic finance planning team to ensure optimal inventory levels
- Ensure alignment of selling price parameters between company and South African Coaters and Canners to ensure correct pricing
- Manage supplier capacity requirements by visiting and liaising with locals to support ongoing production for company nominated parts
- Prevent potential line stoppages by providing the necessary support and assisting Coaters and Canners with immediate and remedial actions to secure production
- Troubleshooting and problem solving as and when required by involving all the relevant stakeholders to mitigate potential risks
- Develop and maintain Work-Instructions pertaining to all related tasks and reports
- Develop and maintain a risk assessment by involving the relevant departments for all related tasks to prevent risks
