Overview

This Medical Director position is based in the Middle East and requires relocation. The role leads the quality agenda, clinical programs, and physician alignment with the Hospital’s strategic plans. The Medical Director oversees clinical quality, patient care processes, and team leadership across all sites.

  • Ensure staff remain current with licenses, registration, and mandatory education.
  • Promote a quality environment for staff through work balance and communication.
  • Familiarize with HR policies and practices.
  • Ensure medical staff abide by the Ethical Framework approved by the Governing Board.
  • Prevent medical staff from engaging in activities that conflict with the Hospital’s interest.
  • Communicate relevant organizational information to staff in a timely manner.
  • Review position descriptions yearly to ensure accuracy.
  • Facilitate effective monthly staff meetings and twice monthly physician meetings.
  • Develop monthly on‑call and doctor’s ROTA schedule.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING & TEACHING
  • Professionally grow employees and self.
  • Provide ongoing clinical excellence by identifying learning needs and evidence‑based information.
  • Ensure all staff have appropriate learning opportunities: provide journal copies, give input to the Education Department, arrange inse‑services, and establish a plan for distribution of educational opportunities.
  • Develop meaningful educational sessions and effectively teach sessions.
  • Develop a personal learning plan yearly and actively seek to increase personal knowledge.
ACCESS, PROVIDER & COMMUNITY RELATIONS
  • Assure timely access to programs and care through collaboration with referral and admission processes.
  • Oversee physician processes related to access and admissions.
  • Demonstrate awareness of census trends and strategize with others.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the physician community to promote positive relationships and hospital care.
  • Maintain community presence and visibility as a positive ambassador for the Hospital.
  • Participate with marketing to develop strategies for marketing hospital services to community physicians.
  • Actively promote physician relationships with Hospital staff.
  • Actively seek ways for medical staff to build relationships with community physicians and partner health care organizations.
PROVISION OF MEDICAL CARE
  • Serve as Medical Director, assuring and providing effective medical care to hospital patients.
  • Establish and participate in an effective and timely process of patient benefit eligibility at admission.
  • Effectively and respectfully communicate with issues regarding medical treatment and overall goals of care.
  • Participate in team meetings and team decisions regarding appropriate treatment settings for patient.
  • Provide expert consultation on complex medical treatment issues.
  • Assure patient care visits at home in a responsive and timely manner when needed.
  • Provide oversight to the insurance benefit eligibility process for the Hospital’s staff or patients.
  • Assure patient care visits and assessment prior to assess patient prognosis prior to the discharge of any patient from the hospital services.
  • Assure complete, relevant documentation in patient care record and related hospital information.
  • Hold in confidence all patient records and information unless properly released by the patient.
PLANNING & REPORTING
  • Involve staff yearly in the development of challenging goals.
  • Develop a strategic/operation plan for the medical department each year based on input from staff and CEO.
  • Provide CEO with quarterly written updates on the status of the strategic/operational plan.
  • Provide staff quarterly updates on the status of the team’s strategic/operation plan goals.
  • Actively participate in the development of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Education / Licensure
  • Medical degree from an accredited university or medical school. Preferred Master’s degree but not required.
  • Board certification in primary specialty is required.
  • Current medical license.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum progressive 5 years’ experience in healthcare, specifically medical services management.
  • Previous experience in a Healthcare management, including experience in quality and utilization management preferred.
  • Previous experience with TQM principles preferred.
  • Additional certifications may be preferred such as current CPR Certification.
