Job description
SA - North West, BritsFarm / Diesel mechanic permanent position (3 months’ probation)

Based at a farm in Skeerpoort / Hartbeespoort area

Basic plus Overtime

Accommodation is offered, with electricity and water, to a value of R5000 pm

Purpose of the role :
  • To perform maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a fleet of diesel trucks, as well as farm tractors and equipment. The mechanic’s role is to ensure that all mobile and stationary diesel equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Key responsibilities :
  • Maintain and repair diesel engines, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and braking systems on all diesel equipment
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance according to OEM and manufacturer maintenance schedules
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs
  • Overhaul engines, pumps, and mechanical components when required
  • Accurately record all maintenance activities on job cards / maintenance logs and / or the Computerised Management Maintenance System
  • Ensure workplace and workshop cleanliness, tool and stock control, and adherence to safety standards at all times
  • Comply with company SHEQ policies and reporting procedures
  • Liaise with company management to reduce downtime and ensure efficient operations
Minimum requirements :
  • Matric, grade 12 or equivalent
  • Recognised Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal Certificate)
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in an industry role with similar key responsibilities
  • Proven experience and references
  • Valid driver's license (Code 10 or higher)
  • Sound knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret manuals, and willingness to take instructions from a farm manager
