About the job Management Accountant (6 months)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Understand the GL structure and maintenance and ensure alignment with the reporting.
  • Detailed review of the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy then process journal entries.
  • Compile and submit timeous monthly financial reports.
  • Adhere to reporting guidelines for FAS and Tax Packs.
  • Resolve monthly audit and reporting queries.
  • Track and analyze performance across the board providing commentary (Act vs Budget vs Forecast vs Prior Year).
  • Preparation and maintenance of Balance Sheet recons for review and approval.
  • Ensure that respective BU Essbase numbers reconcile to HFM for both monthly and budget numbers.
  • Monitoring of cost rabbit along with stakeholders to determine where being impacted and suggestion on how to correct in ledger (i.e. accruals to be released from BS, prepayments to be raised, unbudgeted costs to be noted.
  • Clear and in dept understanding of the balance sheet balances, including the ageing of the balances, with a view to advise on long outstanding balances and how these can be resolved.
  • All Balance Sheet balances such as accruals must be understood in terms of how the balances arose, the purpose of the balances, how they are expected to reverse from the BS, when the balances are utilized / reversed what is the overall remaining general balance and how this will be resolved.
  • Update rolling monthly forecast in alignment with business expectation.
  • Analyze actual performance vs Forecast and provide variance explanations.
  • Assist BP's with Budgeting.
  • Submit monthly commentary on budget variances.
  • Upload budgets onto the budgeting tool and HFM and ensure alignment with business sign off.
  • Monitor completeness of budget results throughout process against business expectation highlight issues and concerns for discussion and resolution.
  • Prepare FAS packs and schedules on HFM on a monthly basis.
  • Compile ICPs on HFM.
  • Ensure all validations on the schedules are clear and promote respective HFM packs.
  • Ensure forecasts are loaded on HFM and promoted.
  • Provide business commentary to explain variances.
  • Ensure analysis schedules are input onto returns accurately.
  • Provide business commentary in order to explain monthly variances to RMB and FirstRand regulatory.
  • Complete quarterly reports timeously and accurately.
  • Complete interim and annual reports timeously and accurately.
  • Engage with external auditors at year end regarding any issues and group queries.
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to initiate dialogue, listen, advise, influence and negotiate to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Engage stakeholders to obtain clear understanding of what is required by them.
  • Understanding of all balances in TB and with accurate disclosure for reporting.
  • Embrace and utilize tools to improve process efficiency and standardization of route tasks (i.e. Alteryx or RPA to assist with journal preparation).
  • Use of approved franchise platforms to assist with reporting i.e. management accounts on Power BI platform.
  • Active participation in Finance transformation projects such as Project Prescient.
  • Active participation in procurement beyond journey in terms of attending session, understanding implications of change, involvement in UAT and providing insights to project team on requirements and pitfalls.
