Job description

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machine Control Hardware Specialist to be responsible installing, configuring, and maintaining machine control hardware systems to ensure optimal performance in mining and construction environments. This role involves commissioning hardware components, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting technical issues to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include collaborating with software teams for system integration, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing technical support and training to field teams. Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with machine control hardware are essential for success.

Portfolios
  • Safety products for open pit and underground mines (CAS, VIS, PA).
  • Underground systems (Tele-op) (Hardline L9 Interface).
  • L9 Hardline interface installation and commissioning.
  • Other related Hexagon products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Fluent in English. French and Portuguese desirable.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing electronics systems.
  • Demonstrated work experience in on site installation, system configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Background in industries such as electronics, radio, television, automotive, mining or similar
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in supporting, diagnosing and troubleshooting diverse and varied environments with a focus on electronic/electrical repairs.

  • Basic knowledge/understanding of LANs, WANs, working with Linux OS Command Line Interface(desirable).
  • Comply with all health and safety measures in place on the customer’s mine sites.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in those specified field.
  • Hardline hardware installation and commissioning.

Qualifications
  • N6 with a trade test (NQF Level 6), National diploma, B-Tech/BSc/B. Eng or higher in Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation, Communications, IT or equivalent.
  • Possibility of being appointed as a 2.9.2.
  • Manual car drivers’ license.
Travel
  • Travel (local, national and international) will be a requirement of this role to deliver services to clients at client sites.
  • Valid Driver's License and passport or Visa (if appropriate) required.
